The K2 T-R External Relay Driver Board is perfect for externally keying an amplifier or external relay circuit allowing the K2 to drive and amplifier. It uses the K2's internal 8R signal from the J13 socket (used for the now discontinued K60XV module). an IRF630 QFET is used as an open drain output and is pulled to ground during transmit.
I am offering this board as a full kit or as a built unit ready for installation in the K2. See pricing options below or on the order page. If you would like me to build and install this board in your K2, please contact me at info -at- w8fgu.com for a quote.
For information on the circuit and operational instructions, please read through version 2.4 of the document published Tom in 2011. For installation instructions for this current iteration of the kit, please follow Tom's description. You will be soldering the provided 8-pin socket in your K2 on the RF Board marked for the J13 socket. NOTE: The only difference between the kit Tom provided and the one I'm providing is that I am not pre-wiring the J2 2-pin housing. I will provide 2 extra pins to be used in case of any damaged during assembly.
Note: there is a wealth of information available of Don's website as well as Tom's website presently preserved by the Mid-MO Amateur Radio Club. If you are a K2 owner, these are valuable resources relating to building, servicing and great add-ons for the K2.
